The HIV/AIDS Project

The staff of the orphanage visits families of the children whose guardians are HIV infected to council them. This is aimed at encouraging them and ensuring them that there is still hope. The staff also encourages them to test for HIV and if found infected start of the treatment as soon as possible.

The orphanage, together with the nearby dispensary, organize voluntary testing and counseling (VTC) in the area, which normally records high numbers of people tested.

Several sensitizations are being carried out in primary and secondary schools on issues concerning HIV/AIDS. The staff have embarked on the ABC strategy as a means of combating the epidemic. ABC signifies:

A=Abstinence
B=Be faithful to your partner
C=Live a Christ-centered life

As Christians we do not encourage use of condoms as this contradicts Gods purpose for sex.

Talking compounds (billboards) conveying HIV/AIDS messages are being given to schools to help communicate HIV messages to the youth.

Adventure Unlimited books are used in primary schools to communicate HIV information among the children. Film shows will begin soon in schools and communities on HIV/AIDS issues.
