About Mountains of Hope

Mountains of hope is a non-profit making charity organization looking after orphan children in Uganda. Mountains of hope is inspired and driven by the potential that is inherent in all children; the potential not only to survive but to thrive, to become leaders who bring positive change to the lives of the children and their communities.

Our area of excellence and great strength is our deep understanding of children's experiences of orphan hood, deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability, and our dedication to placing those experiences at the center of our work. We work in Uganda and assisting 28 orphan children at the moment and their family members, regardless of race, creed or gender. Our distinctive approach focuses on working with orphan children throughout their journey from birth to young adulthood, as well as with families, local organizations and communities to create the environments children need to thrive.

We know healthy beginnings for infants means future promise, so we offer:

• Protection against potentially life-threatening childhood illnesses
• Opportunities to develop and learn through play and exploration
• Stronger relations with the adults who care for them

We support orphan children as they grow and develop at the orphanage, so we offer:

• Knowledge and life skills in both primary and secondary schools where these children go, at the orphanage and in the community.
• Foundations to build lifelong learning and confidence for today and hope for the future
• Interaction with other orphan children, to develop social skills

We assist orphans with the critical transition to adulthood, so we promote programs that offer:

• Training to acquire the skills needed to enter the workforce and meet challenges to grow into adults, we do this by training them to make necklaces using the locally available resources which help them raise funds for their medication, school fees and food at the orphanage.
• Enhanced social and leadership skills to become meaningfully involved for the betterment of their communities
